Fall is such a beautiful season and a favorite time for many of us! With so much to take in and enjoy, it fills our senses with many unique sights, sounds, smells, and tastes. So of course, I had to create a list of my favorite things about fall. Do you have a fall favorite that's not on the list? List it below in the comments!
Ten Favorite Things About Fall
The colors this time of year are simply beautiful! The oranges, reds, and yellows are so vibrant, and provide such beautiful scenery all around us.
Unlike any other season, Fall has many delicious foods! Crock pots are brought out and filled with chili and soup. Kettlecorn and candy corn are plentiful. Hotdogs and marshmallows are roasted over campfires. And of course, everything apple - pies, apple crisp, homemade applesauce, caramel apples, apple cider, and the amazing apple cider doughnuts.
3. Everything Pumpkin
Decorating and carving pumpkins, roasting pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie, pumpkin pie flavored Blizzards and shakes, pumpkin-spiced coffees and creamers. Pumpkin everything!
4. Apple Picking
We recently enjoyed a visit to an apple orchard in Nebraska City, our first experience as a family picking apples. The kids loved learning about all of the different kinds of apples and walking through the rows of trees picking them. They were so excited to bring them home and try each one and make a delicious apple crisp!
5. Cozy clothes
Cooler evenings bring out the cozy hooded sweatshirts, snuggly sweaters, favorite jeans, and cuddly blankets.
With Fall comes football. Whether it is a high school, college, or professional team you are cheering for; or the food and friends you enjoy at the party; or just the fun of you and your kids playing in the backyard, football brings traditions to the Fall season.
7. Beautiful Weather
I love having four different seasons and in Nebraska, the weather can change significantly overnight. Fall offers the perfect blend of sunny days, cooler nights, a little bit of wind and rain, and the excitement (or dread) of the winter soon coming.
8. Pumpkin Patches
Fall in Nebraska is synonymous with going to Pumpkin Patches and Fall Festivals and enjoying all they have to offer – hayrack rides, farm animals, corn mazes, picking pumpkins and apples, duck races, corn pits, wagon rides, being outside, fun activities, and, of course, delicious food!
Halloween is one of those holidays that we can celebrate all month long! We love decorating, haunted houses for the older kids, finding the perfect costume, spooky fun, and trick-or-treating.
Maybe it is the cooler weather, or all of the fun activities going on during this time of year, or a popular time for family photos, but there is something about Fall that brings the family together. Whether it is snuggling up with kids for a family movie night, enjoying the beautiful weather outdoors, experiencing new activities together, creating memories camping, hiking, or fishing - Fall brings a feeling and sense of family.
