Staying active and finding fun activities to do with your family can be a bit more challenging in the winter, especially when there is very little snow on the ground.  Fortunately, Omaha is a wonderful place to live and visit and is full of family-friendly activities and events, including many that are free!

Enjoy free general admission every day! Participate in Saturday Surprise, a simple art-making activity, or Story Adventures, an artful reading program connecting books and art.

Free Classes for Kids

Learn new skills while working on a project together at the Home Depot Free Kids Workshops or Lowe’s Free Build and Grow Clinics, and create fun crafts at Lakeshore Learning Center.

Free and Cheap Movies

Enjoy $2 Movies at Marcus Theatres, February 1-March 16th.

Westroads Kids Club and Shadow Lake Towne Center Kids Club offer kids a different activity each month for free!


Visit your local Public Libraries for wonderful storytimes, fun programs for children and teens, classes for adults, and special events throughout the year!

  • The Hummel Park Nature Center is a perfect place to enjoy nature, hike trails, do crafts, enjoy games, and explore the beautiful outdoors.
  • Family Skate Night at Motto McClean Ice Arena is offered most Sundays for only $10 for a family of four. This includes admission, skate rentals, popcorn and drink.
  • Public Swim at Montclair Indoor Pool and Mockingbird Hills Pool.
  • Omaha Community Centers offer many classes and events for people of all ages. You can learn a new craft, get some exercise, play in a sports league, or participate in the many special events they host throughout the year or special camps while the kids are off of school. Many also offer open gym time with your little ones for as little as $1/adult!
