Wintertime has an interesting dynamic where schedules are concerned.
We get so busy during the holiday season, but then settle into January and hunker down for a long winter’s nap…. Or do we?
I always have an idea of a slow, sleepy wintertime in my head, but the reality is very different. Nothing really slows down, even if the parties are over for a while. Our homes still have to function, we prep for spring rushes at work, we continue to live our busy lives. And as warmer weather approaches - especially when we're teased with amazing springlike days - our energy levels rise and we add even more fun activities to our schedules.
As we are going to discover at Hands-on-Habitat, the natural world operates much in the same way during wintertime. Here at Fontenelle Forest, we have just as many animals staying active all winter as are hibernating… perhaps even more. Birds that stick around in our area are always seen in a flurry of activity during winter. But what could they possibly be doing all day?
At this Friday's Hands-on-Habitat parents and preschoolers will find out what birds do during the winter. We’ll do some birding outside and enjoy great hands-on activities inside. There's so much to learn about winter birds and we can't wait to guide you!
This month's class is nearly full so register soon! Next month's class will open on March 1st, so be sure to check back to register!
