Is there any way to get my milk supply back after a night of drinking?

I made a huge mistake. Three days ago, after getting a sitter, my husband and I had some wine for our anniversary. I have not nursed since. However, I am not ready to stop breastfeeding. Is there any chance that I could eventually start again? If so, how long must I wait?

You can begin now! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting 2 hours after a single and occasional alcoholic drink (for example: one small glass of wine, one beer or one small mixed drink). If you are still feeling the effects of the alcohol after 2 hours, please wait until you are no longer feeling the effects. Alcohol metabolizes through breastmilk the same way that it does through our blood, so it essentially goes away with a little bit of time. Please feel free to reach out to your lactation consultant if you have any additional questions!
