What color will my baby's eyes be?

I have green eyes and my husband has light brown eyes. I have four children all with brown eyes. I am pregnant again on my fifth. Is it possible for this baby to have green eyes ?

It is possible for you to have a baby with green eyes.

When babies are first born, their eyes can appear gray in color. Throughout the first year of life their eye color will develop. The pigment protein, melanin is present in our hair, our skin and the iris of the eye.

As the iris is exposed to light, more and more of the melanin will come out and establish eye color. The color of the eye can change throughout the first year of life.  Genetics plays a factor in determining eye color.

Two blue eyed parents will most likely have a child with blue eyes. Two brown eyed parents will most likely have a child with brown eyes. A child with a brown eyed parent and a green eyed parent has a 50/50 chance of establishing either brown or green as the color of their eyes.
