Just like babies come in all shapes and sizes, they come with different personalities, too.

• Some babies are easy-going
• Others are easily upset
• Some babies are very active
• Others are more laid back

Your baby’s temperament is primarily an inborn trait. Identifying and respecting your baby’s personality--rather than trying to change the parts you don’t like—will make parenting easier now and as she gets older.

If you feel that you have an especially “high-maintenance” or unhappy baby, check with your pediatrician to see if there could be a medical reason behind her behavior.
