Your Baby, Week 3

Let’s face it—newborns don’t arrive looking like the Gerber baby. But by now, his pointy head—elongated from a trip down the birth canal—is becoming rounder, his nose less flat, and he’s starting to fill out his wrinkled skin.

It’s normal for a baby to lose up to about 10 percent of his birth weight in the first two to three days after birth. However, your baby should have bounced back to his birth weight last week.

While all babies grow at a different rate, after the first two weeks, your newborn should gain about 1 ounce each day.
